Everyone loves to watch those cute little squirrels running around, sitting up on their back legs, chewing peanuts or other seeds, right? They and most other rodents especially love peanuts or anything else made from peanuts.
Have you ever wondered why there has been such a problem with rodents chewing the protective coating off the wiring in attics, around pool pumps, in vehicle engines and elsewhere? The manufacturers use peanut oil for making the coating! It helps keep the coating pliable.
Those little rodents can’t help themselves – they love peanut anything so much! It’s almost impossible to get rid of the rodents when there’s so much yummy peanut oil around.
We were managing apartments in Oregon years back and had an infestation of squirrels in the attic areas above the apartments. We tried many different products, to no avail. Then we discovered that they don’t like spices and that gave us an idea. We cooked up a batch of ‘hot’ sauce just for them and sprayed the rafters and floors in one of the attic areas where the squirrels were especially active. Imagine our excitement when the squirrels left that area overnight, never to return!
FYI, here’s the recipe if you should ever have a rodent problem:
Hot Pepper Sauce
Ginger, powdered or chopped
2 gallons Water
Blend all together, let sit for a couple of days, blend in blender, strain, put liquid in sprayer and spray any surface you don’t want the rascals to be in. It’s pretty strong, so wear gloves and nose/mouth mask. Best of all, they just move out and you don’t have any dead, smelly mess to clean up. Try it. It works.
